Mission: Accomplished!

So I have completed a seemingly impossible task.  I have knit my first pair of (wearable) LONGIES!!!  My goal for my Christmas break was such, and I did it!  And Gabe can not only wear them, but they look cute on him!!  He is actually, for the record, wearing them right now as I type!  I used my gorgeous Malabrigo yarn from Annie Amelia, and seriously they're cute!

Ok, so they're a little like skinny jeans, but that's OK!  He can wear them and not look too terribly funny!  I'm working on a hat for my dad right now, it's a long funny story that I will post someday!  And then on Kenzie's Hudson hat!  I balled the first hank of scrappy yarn!  It's going to be cute, I hope!

SO much craftin' going on!

So I've been busy! Seriously, busy, knitting. I was also sick. I ended up with 8 hats for the show, 4 away from my goal (but I was sick for 3 days, so I am sure had I not been SO sick, I could have met my goal!) and 8 Gingerbread ornaments! Oh man! I love everything that I've knit! I also knit a Hudson for my Etsy store and am knitting a custom Hudson right now! I am meeting with a local mama today or tomorrow to pick up some yarn from her, so I can knit her little girl a hat and some mittens! Eep! So excited! (She's like my first REAL, non friend customer!!!)

I might also have another custom coming up, for a friends' son in WA! We'll see!

Introducing...

...Gingy!

And here is the Jane hat!!

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Uh Oh!

If you don't see a post from me in a while, it's because I've been put in jail.
The crime?!

A crime against Merino! I felted my huge sheet of 'dough' also known as, Malabrigo 100% Mernio Wool. It's seriously the softest thing I've ever knit! Oy! It's in the dryer as I type, so soon I should be able to cut it into litle gingerbread men! I'm SO excited!

Also I found the "Jane" hat and will post pictures either tonight or tomorrow! C.U.T.E.

Ben's California Beanie!

So my friend Sara wanted a plain ol' black Beanie for her son Ben!
Here's what I came up with!

Also keep posted for the introduction of the "Jane" hat! ZOMG, it's darling! :) Not to mention the knit/felted gingerbread men that I'm over 1/2 way done knitting! :)

My New Favorite Thing

So, as some of you know, Barry's cousin's wife, Cheryl, (I call her my cousin?!) opened up a fabulous yarn shop the other week. Annie Amelia Anyway, I was lucky enough to be a tester for her. I got to test, THE coolest product ever! It's called a SweetCase and it's WAY awesome!
When I first got the package, I was hesitant to attempt knitting up the gorgeous yarn. It's this bright, vibrant coraly-pink color, which as you know is one of my most favorite colors. But not only is it bright and vibrant, there are teeny tiny glass beads throughout the entire skein of yarn. Seriously, it looked so pretty all knotted up, that I was scared to break it, or ruin it!
I decided that gorgeous yarn wasn't meant to be left alone, so I started to knit it up with the pattern Cheryl created! It's called the "Nice Nice Headband" and it's SO cute! The pictures on the SweetCase don't show the detail that this headband has! There are adorable little X's all over it. Now, generally speaking, I'm not a huge headband girl, but because I made this one, I wear it ALL the time! I love it so much. I'm thinking about ordering some more of the flurry yarn to make Christmas presents!

Also in the SweetCase, is this amazing lip balm, and the cutest little birdhouse charm! I haven't decided what to do with it yet, but I'm sure it'll be fabulous! :) And the ribbon that comes with it has already proven useful, I wore it as a belt!
The pattern was super easy to follow, and even I, a novice knitter, could follow it, and execute it perfectly (I think ;))
I'm honestly not just trying to be a salesgirl, I really, honestly, truly LOVE this project, and the SweetCase! And wouldn't mind a subscription for Christmas (hint hint!)

Ohhhh

And I still don't know how to do tassels! HA!

So I think I have a problem.

When I start a project, it kills me to leave it unfinished. Every Thursday, it seems, I start a new project. That likely coincides with knitting club. Every Thursday, I also stay awake until ungodly hours of the night, like last night 3:38 I finally rolled up to bed. I did finish my hat though! I think that I love the sense of accomplishment I get when I finish a project. There's a slight adrenaline rush, knowing that I made something tangible out of something not so much. Something usable out of something that was just a ball of string! I love knitting, but more than knitting, I love finishing a project..

Two finished projects!

So I finished Julian's Hudson Hat...but he won't wear it. It's too 'scary' for him! What the heck? So now I'm trying to convince him it's a "Candy Cane" hat, since his Candy Corn Cap is such a popular one with him!

This is the one I knit yesterday, for me!!! I love knitting things for me, because they are perfect! Like I pick the exact colors I want, and it's just great!
(Please excuse my hair, I took these this morning)

Wahoo!

So I'm really proud of myself! I finished Julian's Hudson hat in a day! That's incredible! Well I say finish, and I mean knit it. I still have the finishing to do, weaving the ends in and making pompoms. The problem, he won't wear it! Ugh! He is still in love with his candy corn hat!

We went to Michael's as a family yesterday. I bought some pretty yarn to make Barry's Hudson hat and mine! I'm SO excited! And my friend Natalie wants to get one for Scott! Since I'm still practicing, I told her that she could buy the yarn and I would knit it up!

Guess what's almost finished?!

Well it's off the needles now! So that's fabulous. Now I just have finishing to do. I have to weave the ends in, and make tassels! CUTE!

Hudson Hat take 2

So generally speaking, I'm not stupid. Granted, I'm no genius either. But this Hudson hat continues to elude me! I have started it twice, and the ear flaps are backwards on it, BOTH TIMES! Though, through trial and error, I'm able to figure out what the hizeck I did wrong! The solution?! Knitting the last row on the ear flap, should have purled it!

Newest Project

I've made 4 candy corn caps, and think I've pretty much perfected the pattern. I gave one to my neighbor's daughter, so if she posts pics, I'll see if I can put them on here. Anyway, I'm going to work on something called a 'hudson hat'. I bought the pattern yesterday and so far have finished an ear flap and I-cord. Yay!

Here is what a hudson hat looks like:

I'm going to work on the other ear flap, and I-cord, and then comes the brim. The only problem I forsee, the pattern calls for 16" size 7 circular needles, and I have only got size 7 Double Pointed Needles, so hopefully I'll be able to work it out with just the DPN. We'll see. Perhaps a trip to Michael's is in order. I looked at Joann's yesterday and they didn't have circulars in anything smaller than a size 8. Plus, I have a coupon for Michael's for 40% off any regular priced item. For yarn selection, I much prefer Michael's over Joanns.

So it might seem like I only knit. I have recently started knitting, in July. So right now it's my obsession. I am also going to make some organization boxes, and want to paint my living room. I have endless amounts of projects to complete! This blog should get crazy!

My candy corn hat

I whipped this up yesterday, during the boys' naps. It turned out SO cute! You may have seen this on my family blog, if so, I apologize! I'm just proud of my crafty attempt.
This is G! My little shnookums :)

Yes I do bite his cheeks ALL the time.

Hi

This is my blog for my attempts at craftiness :) Maybe I'll get better, maybe I won't. All I know, is that I wish I were crafty!
